R1 - with 2 X 2 ETC 50 underwing racks with ETC 501 centerline rack. Tropicalized version was caller R1/tp

R3 - 3 planes, 2 X underwing 30 mm Mk 103 gun pods. Not serially produced.
Notes

F-8 was powered by BMW D-2 engine. It had additional fuel injector in the supercharged inlet for short time (10 to 15 minutes) emergency power increase during flight below 1000 meters.

On the latter half of 1944, F-8's were equipped with larger rear canopy.

F-8 did not have additional armour like earlier versions, it had only armour of standard A-8 variant.
